Susan R. Mihm MD, FAAP

Education and Training

Dr. Mihm is a native of Florida, and a graduate of Jacksonville university with a B.A. in 1988.  She received her medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in 1992 and completed her pediatric internship and residency at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital in Houston in 1995. Subsequently she became a diplomat of the American Board of Pediatrics and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics in 1995.


Dr. Mihm began her career as an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital from 1995-1997.  She returned to Florida in 1997 where she was in private Practice in Largo. She moved to Venice Florida with her family and co-founded Sunshine Pediatrics in 2003 with her partner Dr. Khan. In addition to her pediatric practice, she works with the Florida State college of Medicine/Sarasota regional campus in medical student education as an associate professor.


Dr. Mihm has wanted to be a doctor since she received her first doctor's kit at her second birthday. She met her husband who is a Sarasota native in Medical School. They have 3 children.  If you see her outside of the office she is usually outdoors jogging, gardening, biking or kayaking.
